U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Israel has accepted the “necessary conditions” for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.
In a message posted on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump stated that during the ceasefire, the U.S. would work with all parties to bring the war to an end.
Trump wrote:
“The Qataris and Egyptians have worked very hard to help bring Peace. They will deliver the final proposal. I believe… Hamas will agree to this deal…”
However, Israel has not officially confirmed whether it has accepted the terms required for the agreement, and Hamas has not issued any statement either.
Trump’s announcement comes ahead of a scheduled meeting next week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which Trump said he will “speak firmly.”
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Trump also said that he believes Netanyahu wants to stop the fighting in Gaza.
Israel launched a military offensive on Gaza after a Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed around 1,200 people. The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, run by Hamas, claims that at least 56,647 people have been killed in Gaza since then.
