Burundian Soldiers in Rwanda Join EAC Troops to Support Vulnerable Families

Burundian soldiers deployed in Rwanda have teamed up with the Rwandan Defence Forces (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police to provide aid to vulnerable families.

Burundi is one of the East African Community (EAC) member states that sent troops to Rwanda as part of activities marking the 5th edition of the EAC CIMIC Week, aimed at supporting community development initiatives.

The EAC CIMIC Week, which began on June 29 and runs through Thursday, July 3, 2025, is designed to help Rwandans commemorate Liberation Day through acts of solidarity.

According to the official X (Twitter) account of the Burundian Army, their troops donated essential items to 70 vulnerable families across the country.

The donated items include beds, mattresses, beddings, chairs, and tables.

These families are located in the districts of Nyarugenge, Musanze, Burera, Nyagatare, Ngororero, Karongi, and Nyanza.

In addition to supporting low-income families and participating in infrastructure development projects, medical specialists from the EAC armies are also offering free healthcare services to Rwandans.

The treatments provided cover internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, dental care, and more.

The services are being offered at Ngoma and Nyanza District Hospitals.
