On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Ernest Rwamucyo presented his credentials to President William Ruto, officially authorizing him to represent Rwanda in Kenya as Ambassador.
Ambassador Rwamucyo stated that he deeply values the historical friendship and cooperation between the two countries, built on mutual respect, shared values, a common vision for regional peace, prosperity, and unity.
He emphasized that the relationship between Rwanda and Kenya continues to grow in areas such as trade, infrastructure, education, security, and people-to-people connections.
Rwamucyo described Kenya as a key partner both in bilateral relations and on the international stage, especially within the East African Community (EAC).
He was among several newly appointed ambassadors who submitted their credentials to President William Ruto on the same day.
President Ruto urged the ambassadors to represent the interests of their nations while also strengthening the existing diplomatic ties with Kenya.
Rwanda and Kenya enjoy a strong brotherly bond as members of the East African Community (EAC) and continue to collaborate across various sectors.
This partnership has been reinforced through several bilateral agreements, including 10 accords signed in April 2023 to advance cooperation in agriculture, education, correctional services, diplomatic training, technology, health, youth development, and cooperatives.
Kenyan investment in Rwanda spans multiple sectors such as education, healthcare, banking, and more.
Rwamucyo previously served as Rwanda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations since October 2023, and he replaces Ambassador Martin Ngoga, who held the position from September 2023.
He has also represented Rwanda in countries such as Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
