Azam FC of Tanzania is in advanced talks with APR FC to acquire the club’s captain Claude Niyomugabo and Jean Bosco Ruboneka, ahead of the transfer window deadline. Azam aims to strengthen its squad to compete with Simba SC and Yanga SC both domestically and internationally.
Niyomugabo has been on Azam FC’s radar since he helped APR eliminate them in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League. Ruboneka may also be signed if Feisal Salum leaves Azam, amid interest from Simba, Yanga, and Kaizer Chiefs.
APR could earn RWF 430 million from Niyomugabo’s transfer, and RWF 215 million from Ruboneka. These funds could support their ambition to reach the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time.
Azam FC finished third in last season’s league and will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In other news, APR FC is looking to replace striker Victor Mbaoma, whose contract was not renewed. They have shown interest in signing Boateng Mensah from Mukura Victory Sports. Mukura demands RWF 50 million for the player.
Boateng scored 7 goals and provided 6 assists in the league, also playing a key role in reaching the semi-finals of the national cup.
Rayon Sports and Police FC are battling for Alain Kwitonda Bacca, who was released by APR FC. Police is ready to offer RWF 30 million, while Rayon lures him with the chance to play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Meanwhile, Muhazi United captain Joseph Sackey is in final negotiations with Mukura for a two-year contract. The defensive midfielder scored 4 goals and made 3 assists, despite his team being relegated to the second division.
Elie Kategaya of APR may be transferred to Gicumbi FC, Bugesera FC, or Gorilla FC. He was previously on loan at Vision FC.
