More than 800 local leaders, from village (Umudugudu) to district level, gathered on Wednesday, June 11, for the annual Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) meeting in Bugesera District.
The meeting aimed to exchange ideas on both citizen-centered and district-wide development. It was attended by the Governor of the Eastern Province, Pudence Rubingisa.
Also present were the Executive Secretary of the Province, Jeanne Nyirahabimana; the Head of RIB in the province, Hubert Rutaro; as well as representatives from security institutions and various partners, including the private sector and other stakeholders.
Pudence Rubingisa, Governor of the Eastern Province, urged local leaders—especially village leaders in Bugesera District—to actively participate in accelerating people-centered development in the communities they oversee.
Governor Rubingisa also reminded leaders to prioritize hygiene and sanitation in their respective areas.
The Mayor of Bugesera District, Richard Mutabazi, stated that the purpose of the meeting was to assess their progress, hold discussions, and adopt concrete strategies for the commitments they plan to implement. He emphasized that good governance must begin at the village level.
