Dieudonné Kamuleta has been re‑elected as President of the Constitutional Court in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), entering a new three-year term.
The election was held behind closed doors in Kinshasa on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, involving the nine judges of the court — all of whom voted unanimously, delivering 100% support for Kamuleta, according to the official announcement.
He was initially elected on June 22, 2022, succeeding Dieudonné Kaluba via a random draw (tirage au sort) process as provided by court procedures.
Under the DRC’s legal framework for the Constitutional Court, the Presidential term is three years, with a single possible renewal. New appointments must be confirmed by a Presidential decree.
Kamuleta’s upcoming term ensures his continued leadership of a court that holds significant influence: it rules on major constitutional issues, political rights, and disputed election cases.
His re‑election comes as the country prepares for local elections, where the Constitutional Court is expected to play a key role in resolving electoral disputes.
