Today, June 12, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Yusuf Murangwa, is presenting the national budget report to Parliament, outlining how the government plans to spend over Rwf 7 trillion in the 2025/26 fiscal year.
The Minister is expected to explain how the government will raise and spend money in the upcoming fiscal year, following recommendations made by members of Parliament in May, when the Ministry was asked to revise parts of the previously submitted budget.
The budget documents, which detail the government’s plan to spend over Rwf 7 trillion, were first submitted to Parliament on May 8 and were approved by the Cabinet on Monday, June 9.
The budget shows a 21% increase, amounting to over Rwf 1.2 trillion, compared to the Rwf 5.8 trillion approved in the previous fiscal year.
The additional funding is expected to support key projects such as the construction of the new Kigali International Airport in Bugesera, and other priority areas like job creation, industrial development, agricultural productivity, and public infrastructure expansion.
