The Prosecution at the Intermediate Level of Huye has submitted a case file to the Huye Intermediate Court involving a 58-year-old woman accused of murdering her 80-year-old husband by striking him on the head with a pestle.
The alleged crime occurred on April 15, 2025, around 7 PM, in Giturwa village, Gasoro cell, Kigoma sector, Nyanza district, at their residence.
During her interrogation, the suspect claimed that after an argument over her husband spilling flour, she chased after him and struck him on the head and arm with a cassava-pounding pestle, causing him to collapse. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the National Public Prosecution Authority, the woman admitted they had longstanding conflicts, each living separately and cooking for themselves. She also stated that she has no remorse for killing him.
If convicted of murder, she faces life imprisonment, as stipulated by Article 107 of Law No. 68/2018 of 30/08/2018 on crimes and penalties in general.
