Iran Vows Retaliation Against U.S. After Major Airstrikes

Following powerful airstrikes by the United States targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, the Tehran government has publicly declared its intention to retaliate — a move that has escalated fears of a broader conflict both regionally and globally.

Multiple media outlets report that Iran has several retaliation options, including attacking U.S. military bases in Iraq, Jordan, and Syria, or leveraging allied militia groups such as Kata’ib Hezbollah in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen.

The assault, dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer, was carried out by advanced U.S. B-2 Stealth Bombers, which dropped precision bombs on heavily protected sites, including the Fordow nuclear facility.

Although former U.S. President Donald Trump declared that “America has won the battle” following the attack, Iran stated that the strike “will not be ignored.” The Iranian Foreign Minister warned that “the response to this attack will have lasting consequences.”

As the international community calls for dialogue and de-escalation, major outlets like The Guardian and The Times report that Iran may also resort to economic weapons, such as closing the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world’s oil supply passes daily.

The U.S. government, through Secretary of State Marco Rubio, warned that “retaliating against America would be the greatest mistake Iran could make in its history.” This is seen as pressure on Tehran to choose negotiations over war.

U.S. allies, including the United Kingdom, have raised concerns about a potential rise in terror attacks on their soil, following the rapid escalation caused by the U.S. airstrikes.

British media outlets like Daily Express and Daily Mail report heightened security measures and growing fears that Iran’s retaliatory actions could reach European nations as well.
