President Paul Kagame is in Brussels, Belgium, attending the Global Gateway Forum 2025, a high-level meeting focused on strengthening global cooperation and tackling key economic challenges. This marks the second edition of the summit, which brings together world leaders to discuss ways to build stronger connections and sustainable development worldwide.
During Thursday’s opening session, President Kagame met with several African leaders, including President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa. Ramaphosa noted that sitting alongside Presidents Kagame and Tshisekedi inspired hope and unity in the pursuit of peace.
Before the main session, President Kagame held talks with Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to former U.S. President Donald Trump, on matters concerning Africa’s development and global partnerships.
On the sidelines of the forum, Kagame is also expected to meet Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to discuss ongoing cooperation between Rwanda and the European Union, emphasizing mutual growth, trade, and innovation.
