The Chief of Defence Forces of Uganda, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced that his firstborn son, Ruhamya Kainerugaba, has followed in his footsteps by joining the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Through his X (formerly Twitter) account, Muhoozi revealed that after enlisting in the UPDF, Ruhamya was given the rank of Private, the lowest in the military hierarchy.
He wrote:
“I am very pleased to announce that after 31 years of serving in the Army of God — the UPDF — God has blessed the Museveni household with yet another soldier from last month. Private Ruhamya Kainerugaba. May God bless him as He blessed me.”
Ruhamya Kainerugaba, 24, is the firstborn child of Gen. Kainerugaba and his wife Charlotte Kainerugaba.
He joins the army following in the footsteps of his father, as well as his grandfathers: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his brother Gen. Salim Saleh.
