Manchester City Fined £1 Million for Repeated Premier League Violations

Manchester City has been fined £1 million after admitting to violating Premier League regulations on nine occasions during the 2024/2025 season.

The violations relate to delays in starting matches or resuming the second half, which are against Rule L.33 of the Premier League’s rules.

The Premier League stated that these infractions occurred in nine matches, including one at the Etihad Stadium where City lost 2-1 to Manchester United in December 2024.

City was fined £40,000 for the first offense, with the amount increasing progressively to £190,000 by the ninth violation.

The club informed the Premier League that it has already issued an apology and reminded players and coaching staff to strictly adhere to league rules.

This is not the first time Manchester City has been penalized for such delays. In the 2023/2024 season, the club was fined £2.09 million for similar infractions, which occurred 22 times.

This comes as City is still involved in a major legal battle over 130 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations spanning nine years from 2009 to 2018. If found guilty, the club could face severe penalties, including possible relegation from the Premier League.
