Mexican Man Arrested for Alleged Plot to Assassinate Donald Trump

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Mexican national accused of plotting to assassinate former President Donald Trump by shooting him.

The DHS, through its Secretary Kristi Noem, released a statement thanking immigration officers who successfully apprehended the suspect, who was reportedly undocumented and is now in judicial custody.

The suspect, Ramon Morales Reyes, aged 54, allegedly wrote a handwritten letter earlier this month, in which he stated his intention to shoot President Donald Trump if he saw him during his campaign events.

The man, who is originally from Mexico, blames the U.S. government for deporting his family.

He wrote:

“We’re tired of this President mocking us Mexicans. We’ve done more for this country than you white people.”

Morales is reported to have illegally entered the U.S. at least nine times between 1998 and 2005, and has a criminal record, including a felony hit-and-run resulting in death.

Following his arrest, U.S. authorities are preparing to deport him back to Mexico.
