The former president of Rayon Sports, Sadate Munyakazi, has announced that he will not run for office in the upcoming elections of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA).
This announcement comes after a post on social platform X caused confusion among the public, with many speculating that he might be planning to run for the top position at FERWAFA.
Journalist Oswald Mutuyeyezu of Radio & TV10 wrote on X, asking Munyakazi if he had already submitted his candidacy for the FERWAFA presidency.
He wrote: “Good afternoon, expert @SadateMunyakazi. Since FERWAFA deserves to be led by a strong and respected man like you, have you already submitted your candidacy? Keep up the good work!”
Munyakazi quickly replied: “You know, when a comrade says something like that, it feels possible… let me check the comments, then I’ll make a decision. As they say, let’s see if we might contribute.”
His statement sparked further speculation, with many wondering if he was indeed planning to run for FERWAFA president.
Seeking clarification, BWIZA contacted Sadate for further details.
In response, Sadate Munyakazi clarified that he has no intention of leading FERWAFA, contrary to what people have started to assume. He stressed that he is currently very busy and would not have time to dedicate himself to Rwandan football leadership.
When asked about his post replying to journalist Oswald on X, he said he was merely joking and that there was no hidden agenda or intention to campaign for FERWAFA presidency.
