A school vehicle belonging to Ecole Les Poussins, located in Gikondo, Kicukiro District, was involved in an accident on Wednesday around 5:00 p.m., hitting four students from G.S Kimisange who were walking along the roadside.
Preliminary information indicates that the bus may have experienced brake failure, causing it to hit the students, seriously injuring some of them. Others inside the bus also sustained various injuries.
The spokesperson for the Rwanda National Police, ACP Boniface Rutikanga, told the media that the police quickly responded to the scene and the injured were taken to the hospital.
ACP Rutikanga said:
“Some of the victims sustained serious injuries, but all are receiving medical attention,” adding that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. The injured students are being monitored by health and security services.
